March 2024 Side Hustle Report – $3,623.03

Updated: Dec 21, 2024

March has been a productive month! With steady growth across my side hustles, I’m feeling optimistic about the direction of my income streams. While some hustles are still in the early stages, others are continuing to show strong results.

Welcome to the latest edition of the Financial Tutor Side Hustle Report! This month, I'll dive into the income from my various gig and sharing economy jobs, showcasing what's working and what needs some fine-tuning. If you're new to the series, I’ve been documenting my side hustle journey since 2021, and over the years, I've gained plenty of insights to help you replicate my results.

Let’s dive into the numbers for March 2024!

Side Hustle Income for March 2024

Total Side Hustle Income for March 2024 = $3,623.03

This is a fantastic result for March! I’m happy to see consistent growth in my Amazon video reviews and Airbnb income, with the podcast earnings showing a small but steady increase. Even though ShareGrid and Wag didn’t make a contribution this month, I’m focusing on refining the hustles that are driving results.

Wag: $0.00

Once again, no dog walking this month. Wag is taking a backseat for now, as my schedule is full with other hustles and priorities. I’ll definitely return to Wag when I have more time, but for now, it's not a focus.

Amazon Video Review Commissions: $1,930.67

My Amazon video reviews brought in a strong $1,930.67 in March. This marks a significant increase over February’s earnings, and I’m thrilled to see this hustle grow. I’ve been focusing on optimizing my strategy, particularly on finding high-demand products with great potential for reviews. With this growth, I’ll continue to refine my process to maintain this upward trajectory.

ShareGrid (Camera Rental): $0.00

ShareGrid didn’t generate any income this month. I’m still holding out hope that demand for camera rentals will pick up, particularly as the warmer months and wedding season approach. In the meantime, I’m focused on other hustles but will revisit ShareGrid soon to see if I can capture some rental income.

Podcast: $3.75

The podcast earned a modest $3.75 in March. While this is still a small sum, it’s a positive step in the right direction. I’ve been working on improving content and increasing engagement, and I’m seeing some progress. As I continue to build my audience and improve my episodes, I expect this income to grow slowly but steadily over time.

House Hack: Free Housing

House hacking continues to be one of the most effective ways I save on living costs. I live in one unit for free, which significantly reduces my housing expenses. The upstairs unit is rented out long-term, and the garden unit serves as my short-term Airbnb property, making this setup an efficient way to reduce costs and generate income.

Airbnb/VRBO (Short-Term Rental Income): $1,280.18

Short-term rental income for March amounted to $2,217.00 in gross income. After accounting for the building’s expenses, the net income for the month is $1,280.18. This steady income continues to be a reliable part of my side hustle portfolio. I’m focusing on optimizing my listings and maintaining high occupancy as we move into the spring and summer months.

Building Expenses Breakdown:

  • Monthly mortgage payment (including interest): $2,116.07

  • Home insurance: $151.96

  • Property taxes: $542.44

  • Total monthly expenses: $2,810.47

Since the building has three units, the Airbnb portion of these expenses comes to $936.82 per month. After subtracting this from the gross Airbnb income, the net income for March is:

$2,217.00 - $936.82 = $1,280.18

Interest Earnings (Robinhood): $408.43

I earned $408.43 in interest this month on funds held in my Robinhood account. This is a great return and a reminder that even idle funds can earn a passive income. I’m still considering where to allocate this money, but for now, it’s nice to see it growing steadily.

And that concludes the March Side Hustle Report.

March has been an excellent month for my side hustles, with total earnings of $3,623.03. My Amazon video reviews and Airbnb income have shown solid growth, and I’m optimistic that this momentum will continue into the spring. Although ShareGrid and Wag didn’t contribute this month, I’m confident that they’ll pick up when the timing is right.

I’ll continue refining my strategies for Amazon video reviews and Airbnb to keep the earnings consistent. I’m also excited to grow my podcast audience, even though the income is still small. Every bit counts, and I’m committed to improving it over time.

Looking Ahead

As we move further into 2024, I’ll keep pushing to grow my current hustles and test out new opportunities. I’m focused on refining my processes for Amazon video reviews, growing my Airbnb business, and building my podcast audience. I also plan to explore new side hustles and see how I can further diversify my income streams.
